so much to say here: helvetica the film screened tonight at massart, with a q&a afterwards that included mike parker (who founded bitstream after overseeing murgenthaler linotype's acquisiton of helvetica, not to mention the transition from hot-metal designs to digital) and matthew carter, above, who has designed for parker's foundries, as well as creating many more fonts than those in the title of this photo.
all of which is to say: clearly, as someone who once designed a site entirely in verdana & georgia, i needed my photo with him. i might carry it in my breastpocket. or embed it in any document i set in one of his fonts. most amazing terrible photo of my life.
such a good night! i haven't even talked about the free tabouli and lemonade; oh my.
