You would have to be living under a rock not to have heard of Pauly D. Born in Providence, R.I., Paul 'DJ Pauly' DelVecchio is recognised for his musical talent as well as his reality star status on MTV's highest rated show, Jersey Shore, which premiered in December 2009. Quickly a fan favourite, MTV announced Pauly as the first cast member to receive his own spinoff, The Pauly D Project, which chronicles his life as a celebrity DJ.

It's been a meteoritic rise to fame, and in 2010, DJ Pauly released his first single entitled Beat Dat Beat, which quickly climbed the charts, further establishing his place in pop culture. In 2011, Pauly won Choice TV: Male Reality/Variety Star at the Teen Choice Awards after being nominated for the second year in a row. This powerhouse DJ has been honoured as one of US Weekly's hottest bodies and came in close second to Vin Diesel in People Magazine's 'Sexiest Man Alive on Facebook' contest.

DJ Pauly D will perform at HQ Nightclub in Adelaide on January 24; Festival Hall in Melbourne on January 25; the Hordern Pavilion in Sydney on January 26; and Platinum Nightclub on the Gold Coast on January 27.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is a 2012 fantasy film directed by Peter Jackson. It is the first of a three-part film adaptation of the 1937 novel The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien, to be followed by The Desolation of Smaug and There and Back Again, due for theatrical release in 2013 and 2014, respectively.

Promo:

Set in Middle-earth 60 years before The Lord of the Rings, the adventure follows the journey of title character Bilbo Baggins, who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor from the fearsome dragon Smaug.

Approached out of the blue by the wizard Gandalf the Grey, Bilbo finds himself joining a company of 13 dwarves led by the legendary warrior, Thorin Oakenshield. Their journey will take them into the wild; through treacherous lands swarming with Goblins and Orcs, deadly Wargs and Sorcerers.

Although their goal lies to the East and the wastelands of the Lonely Mountain, first they must escape the goblin tunnels, where Bilbo meets the creature that will change his life forever…Gollum.

Here, alone with Gollum, on the shores of an underground lake, the unassuming Bilbo Baggins not only discovers depths of ingenuity and courage that surprise even him, he also gains possession of Gollum’s “precious” ring that holds unexpected and useful qualities… A simple, gold ring that is tied to the fate of all Middle-earth in ways Bilbo cannot begin to know.

Ian McKellen returns as Gandalf the Grey, the character he played in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, with Martin Freeman in the central role of Bilbo Baggins, and Richard Armitage as Thorin Oakenshield.

Also reprising their roles from The Lord of the Rings in The Hobbit trilogy are: Cate Blanchett as Galadriel; Ian Holm as the elder Bilbo; Christopher Lee as Saruman; Hugo Weaving as Elrond; Elijah Wood as Frodo; and Andy Serkis as Gollum.

The international ensemble cast of the trilogy also includes Manu Bennett, Jed Brophy, Adam Brown, John Callen, Mark Hadlow, Peter Hambleton, Barry Humphries, Stephen Hunter, William Kircher, Sylvester McCoy, Bret McKenzie, Graham McTavish, James Nesbitt, Dean O’Gorman, Conan Stevens, Ken Stott and Aidan Turner.

The screenplay for “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” is by Fran Walsh & Philippa Boyens & Peter Jackson & Guillermo del Toro. Jackson is also producing the film, together with Carolynne Cunningham, Zane Weiner and Fran Walsh. The executive producers are Alan Horn, Toby Emmerich, Ken Kamins and Carolyn Blackwood, with Boyens and Eileen Moran serving as co-producers.

Storyline:

Bilbo Baggins is swept into a quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor from the fearsome dragon Smaug. Approached out of the blue by the wizard Gandalf the Grey, Bilbo finds himself joining a company of thirteen dwarves led by the legendary warrior, Thorin Oakenshield. Their journey will take them into the Wild; through treacherous lands swarming with Goblins and Orcs, deadly Wargs and Giant Spiders, Shapeshifters and Sorcerers. Although their goal lies to the East and the wastelands of the Lonely Mountain first they must escape the goblin tunnels, where Bilbo meets the creature that will change his life forever ... Gollum. Here, alone with Gollum, on the shores of an underground lake, the unassuming Bilbo Baggins not only discovers depths of guile and courage that surprise even him, he also gains possession of Gollum's "precious" ring that holds unexpected and useful qualities

A younger and more reluctant Hobbit, Bilbo Baggins, sets out on a "unexpected journey" to the Lonely Mountain with a spirited group of Dwarves to reclaim a their stolen mountain home from a dragon named Smaug.

Summary: Many entertainment commentators including the Media Man agency think that 'The Hobbit' may be one of the best and most popular movies in Australia for 2012, despite the late release in the year. One for the whole family, and both casual and die hard fans should love it.

Special thanks to everyone who helped make tonight such a big success. See you at the movies again soon.

Kardashian in Sydney, Australia for E! News: Red carpet and dinner at Nield Ave

Kardashian mania has once again hit Sydney, Australia, for better or worse.

One has to ponder the question... what are they flogging this time?

We understand Kim and clan are promoting their new diet program (which has garnered less than stellar reviews on American soil). Maybe the strategy is to spread the seed far and wide and hope that some fertilise. If you believe the detractors, 'The Devil Wears Prada', and whispers about a "wolf in sheep's clothing".

Cosy Rushcutters Bay restaurant, Neild Avenue, was the venue to the red carpet, as media melodrama played out on the footpath as it was a battle between media with those who had media accreditation VS those without (which were the vast majority). A PR agency who will remain nameless for now handled the media relations (which we have been told by many was not well handled).

Leaving new boyfriend Kanye West at home and keeping most of the juicy details of their romance off limits, Kardashian advised she had set new boundaries in a bid to protect the relationship and herself from the close scrutiny which followed her divorce from basketballer Kris Humphries.

While West has appeared in the latest season of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, his girlfriend has promised to keep private their intimate moments.

In Australia for Foxtel's E! Channel and diet supplement QuikTrim, the 32-year-old said her painful and public split had taught her to "hold back (sharing) a little bit with my new relationship."

"I don't share everything. Yes, Kanye has been in a few episodes, but that's only natural when he's in my life. He's around when I'm filming, but I don't think I'd really share our intimate dinner dates (on the show) which I would have so willingly done before."

Her latest 48-hour Australian publicity blitz reflects her rushed visit about 12 months ago, when she came under the gun for flying back to Los Angeles early amid international criticism and media accusations she had married Humphries for a huge TV pay day.

The fallout was filmed as part of the popular reality series, which has also documented - in brief - her romance with West, who had already been a friend for eight years.

A relaxed Kardashian said that "it was definitely a very difficult time".

"But I feel like I'm just in a better space now. I feel content with everything and where my life is. I feel happy and I have no regrets," she said.

"I'm a different person because of it. I've grown up, I've really grown up... that situation made me grow up. I just feel at a good place in my life right now."

This famous landmark on the Springbrook National Park, between Qld and NSW, Australia, is notoriously difficult to photograph, but you can find some wonderful photos in Flickr.
For me it was difficult, because it was as many people there (Xmas time), as at peak-hour in a city mall!!
Anyway, my version of shots of this 'celebrity' from different points,
with prolonged exposure for softer water effect.

Logies 2011: Katy Perry Adds Firework To Night Of Surprises, by Eva Rinaldi

The Australian entertainment industries night of nights was certainly glamorous by Australian standards and delivered strongly in surprises and audience delight.

There were a ton of surprises and its safe to say that the organisers, including the Nine Network, got it right this year.

An emotional and gracious Karl Stefanovic, who won the Gold Logie, paid tribute to his wife Cass for "giving up a promising TV career of her own with the ABC to let me do this and look after our three beautiful kids."

The capacity crowd loved Karl's affectionate words for Network Nine boss David Gyngell -"He's probably at home, in his Homer Simpson undies, scratching himself or whatever he does, but mate, I love you as a boss and more importantly as a friend."

He also remembered his family saying he thanked his "mum for her beautiful soul" and his dad "for your male-pattern baldness, big guy."

The popular TV presenter - journalist disclosed that his mentor was Laurie Oakes: "The reason I am in this business and want to be for the rest of my life."

He had originally promised to stick to soda water, however he left stage with "I'm going to the bar."

Stefanovic threw into his entertaining speech that added he did not believe half of Australia would know who he was "if he wasn't pole-axed on Grey Goose vodka".

"I thought it was career-ending...but I survived it", he said.

"So yes I will probably have two dozen champagnes, a few vodkas and what not, but I will be right for the show in the morning."

On the success on the Today Show he shared: "We're risking things but we're both more confident...I've never been more confident in front of the camera, and I don't want that to sound arrogant, but that comes with the miles I've had on air."

A ton of actors, actresses and presenters made their way to the podium before Stefanovic at Melbourne's Crown Casino looking a bit bewildered as they grasped their viewer-SMS-voted Most Popular awards.

'Our Karl', the Channel 9 Today host and sometimes 60 Minutes reporter who ran away with the Gold Logie from Packed To The Rafters duo Rebecca Gibney and Jessica Marais, who I understand were hot favourites.

The popular awards had the room talking. Asher Keddie of Ten's Offspring, bested Seven's Packed To The Rafters dynamos Gibney and Marais as Most Popular Actress. Another surprise of the TV Week sponsored event was Chrissie Swan of Channel Ten's morning chat show The Circle. She was voted Most Popular New Female Talent...ahead of prime-time personalities Emma Booth, Julie Goodwin, Poh Ling Yeow and Hannah Marshall.

Ten's MasterChef, one of the highest-rating series in Australian television, was nominated for just one award - Most Popular Reality Program - which it won.

Stefanovic also won Most Popular Presenter ahead of Hamish Blake, Adam Hills, Shaun Micallef and Swan.

Underbelly: The Golden Mile's Firass Dirani won Most Popular New Talent, however his show was beaten by Packed To The Rafters as the viewers' favourite drama.

Channel Nine got more acholades with Underbelly being judged Most Outstanding Drama, while the Most Outstanding Actor and Actress went to Richard Roxburgh (Rake, ABC) and Claire van der Boom (Sisters Of War, ABC).

News media commentators, celebrities and the general public agreed that the strong line up of performing artists, headlined by Katy Perry, made this years Logies one of the best ever.

Logies Notes

Performing artist Katy Perry promised a Logies explosive firework opening to the Logies and she delivered

Logies 2001 was more glamorous than ever before

Longest red carpet in the event's history (80m)

Katy Perry, Maroon 5 and Jesse J all performed

Rebecca Judd, expecting, showed off her tummy on the Logies' red carpet

Rebecca Gibney had been favourite to take home the coveted Gold Logie.

Shane Jacobsen (Kenny fame) was a photographers favorite for the night, putting on all sorts of antics to keep the press pack amused.

Katy Perry was the most photographed star on the red carpet, to little surprise

Crown Casino is understood to have possibly done record business in gaming and at its restaurants and bars, as a positive flow on effect from from the event

Stefanovic is Nine's first Gold Logie winner since Ray Martin won his fifth and final award in 1996. In voting him television's most popular personality, the public has ended a five-year stranglehold on gold for the Seven network.

Elin Kling X Guess By Marciano Capsule Collection Launch

Elin Kling X Guess By Marciano Capsule Collection Launch; East Sydney, Australia ...

East Sydney, Australia, and yet another product / fashion launch, with the usual splash of celebrities.

Firstly, Marciano is a leading lifestyle brand by Guess, so with that out of the way, a bit of colour banter to keep you interested with a bit of back story...

It's said "celebrity sells", but time will tell in seeing just how long the product world will continue to roll out the celebrities. Clearly, Guess and friends are sticking with the formula for the time being.

Of course, you have the A list, B list and C list et al... this event was a mix, to be fair. It's all really about selling product and trying to make it fly off the shelves in the end, and playing the media card. A tad more interesting than reading fashion advertisements in the even thinning Australian broadsheets - newspapers and fashion magazine advertising doesn't come cheap either. News coverage usually beats regular advertising, so the fashion and lifestyle product world will likely continue to hold bashes and parties while playing the celeb card for a while yet.

Next week Australia will get more brand launches, more fashion parties, with many of the usual suspect celebs coming along just to be seen and read about themselves in the paper - or online - whatever the case. Add a bit of gossip... you get a bit of news, and wallah - there's another PR campaign in the bag.

Fun Facts:

Guess (styled as GUESS) is an American clothing line brand. Guess also markets other fashion accessories besides clothes, such as watches, jewelry and perfumes. The company also owns the line Marciano.

The company began advertising in 1982, then later they introduced their iconic black-and-white ads in 1985.[3] The ads have won numerous Clio Awards. Their fashion models have included a number of supermodels, many of whom, such as Claudia Schiffer, Eva Herzigova, Valeria Mazza, and Laetitia Casta, first achieved prominence via these ad campaigns.

Marciano is an Italian given name and it originates from Latin Marcianus or Marcian (Saint Marcians) or "Martians" or Martianus. Also from the cult of Roman god Mars.

Elin Kling is a Swedish fashion blogger born in 1983 in Sweden. She runs a Scandinavian fashion blog called Style by Kling.

Elin Kling started off her career in fashion as a model, with her base in Milano, Italy. Over the years she has also worked within Swedish Television-business. Today she's also the editor of her own-found magazine Style By which can be bought online for iPad's, iPod's and iPhone's as well as in physical form in stores in Sweden.
