Mikey Georgeson is a painter, writer, singer, performer, college lecturer, and movie maker. He sings and performs as ‘Vessel’ for the vaudevillian rock band David Devant and His Spirit Wife, as well as Mr. Solo. One of Mikey’s paintings, ‘Dopamine – Molecule of Intuition’, bubbled brightly in a recent John Moore’s show at Liverpool’s Walker Art Gallery. He describes his own work as ‘tragicomic’. The publication Art-Shaped described his solo exhibition ‘Trope’ at Liverpool’s Royal Standard gallery as exploring ‘how the artist approaches the tension between art object and life’ and Double Negative found ‘irresistible joy and warmth’ in the paintings.

66. The Process of Play
by Paul Savage

Paul Savage examines the variables of realism as seen in photographs and found imagery from the twentieth century in the form of books, magazines and comics. The images he chooses to explore have an immediacy that then become collaged together. Paul then begins to work away from the image, resulting in a series of paintings and sculptures.
After leaving the Royal College of Art in 2007 he has been involved in group shows around the country as well as having work exhibited for several art prizes, including the Lynn Painter-Stainers Prize at the Mall Galleries, London in 2012.

98. IGGY Eggy
by Moshi Monsters

This year’s Moshi Monsters egg is based on popular Moshling, I.G.G.Y. (short for “I’m gonna get ya.”) These pixel-scoffing Moshlings look innocent enough, but the second they spot a pointy arrow, it’s history. Experts believe they find cursors really annoying – like flies flittering around their heads. But seeing as they can’t swat them (they’ve got no arms, let alone rolled-up newspapers) they gobble them. ‘Ulp! You’ll occasionally spot a Pixel-Munching Snaffler trapped in a hedge, but they usually whoosh in from mysterious portals in cyberspace, called Aargates. Get your paws on an egg for your monster’s room over at MoshiMonsters.com using the code: IGGYEGGY. Fangtastic!

The process Lindsey uses always begins with a hand drawn line. Her medium of choice, a mechanical pencil, allows Lindsey to create work that is traditional with a contemporary twist.
Lindsey likes to create work that the viewer feels familiar with. In particular, she hopes to engage the viewer in a way that reminds them of the places they’ve been and the people they’ve met.

After leaving the Royal College of Art in 2007 he has been involved in group shows around the country as well as having work exhibited for several art prizes, including the Lynn Painter-Stainers Prize at the Mall Galleries, London in 2012.

transmediale.10 Paparazzi Bots by Ken Rinaldo
celebrities images

The installation features a series of Paparazzi Bots, each a tech-hybrid of camera and cameraman, which subtly stalks exhibition visitors. They seek one thing, which is to photograph these visitors, and make themselves famous.
Comprised of multiple cameras and sensors on a custom-built rolling platform, the Paparazzi Bots move at the speed of a walking human. They select a person to photograph, automatically stop, adjust their focus and record the moment with several flashes. The photos are then propagated using the press, the web, and social networking sites, elevating their subjects to ‘celebrities’ and ‘celebritising’ the Paparazzi Bots along with them.
As well as making a pointed statement on culture’s obsession with the ‘celebrity image’, the Paparazzi Bots refer to the increasing ubiquity of machine surveillance. We are often photographed by cellphones and hidden cameras and ‘celebritised’ without our knowledge. At the same time, social networking sites such as MySpace, Facebook and Twitter, have created a marked trend towards self-publicity. The line between self-publicity and surveillance will become ever more blurred in the conditional future, we find ourselves moving into.

Ken Rinaldo (born 1958) is an American/French/Scottish artist. He creates interactive art installations that explore the intersection between natural and technological systems. His robotic and bio-art installations seek to merge the organic and electromechanical seamlessly, expressing a gentle symbiosis. His works are influenced by living systems theories, artificial life research, interspecies communication and the idea of emergent properties. His work also deals with ecological issues often overlooked in favor of technological progress. Rinaldo's best known works are Autopoiesis (2000), an a-life robotic installation exploring the idea of group consciousness, and Augmented Fish Reality (2004), a series of fish-driven robots. In 2001 he received the first prize at the VIDA 3.0 International Artificial Life Competition for Autopoiesis and an honorable mention at Ars Electronica in 2001 for the same installation. Augmented Fish Reality received an award of distinction at the Ars Electronica Festival in 2004. Rinaldo directs the Art & Technology programme in the Department of Art at the main campus of the Ohio State University. transmediale.10 has invited his new work, the Paparazzi Bots.

Postcard portrait of Jean Armour Burns Brown
celebrities images
This is a monochrome postcard from a photograph of a direct descendant of Robert Burns.

Jean Armour Burns Brown was the great granddaughter of Robert Burns, descended from Robert Burns junior, the poet's eldest son. From the time she was a young woman she was said to bear an uncanny resemblance to her famous forebear. Because of this she became something of a celebrity in her own right, touring in Scotland and North America. She was regularly invited to ceremonies associated with Robert Burns and appeared at many events from the 1890s onwards until her death in 1937.

This postcard is evidence of her celebrity. It reproduces her autograph, "Yours very sincerely Jean Armour Burns Brown".

8. Anticipation of a Thousand Moments
by Anna Barlow

Anna Barlow is fascinated by the culture of celebrational food and of how food tells a story of the people it’s for and place it’s in. A full stand of melting ice creams could suggest a hot day or treats abandoned for some mysterious reason.
Anna’s work is the result of long research into techniques, texture and glaze. Her methods are a combination of hand-building, slip-casting and press moulding and she uses both porcelain and earthenware. The techniques create a ‘visual edibility’ to the work; it is up to the imagination of the viewers to decide how it will taste…

7. The Wrong Way Round
by Andy Sturgeon

Following Andy Sturgeon’s successful contribution to last year’s record breaking The Big Egg Hunt, the leading garden and landscape designer has been invited to create another unique egg design for the charity event.
Last year, Andy’s egg was one of the highest bidding designs, selling for £10,500.
Andy Sturgeon is one of the world’s leading landscape and garden designers. His designs are widely admired for their timeless architectural qualities, innovative planting and sculptural characteristics.
Both the Sunday Times and House & Garden Magazine have named Andy as one of the ‘Top 10 Garden Designers in the UK’. He has won over 30 international awards including six Gold medals and Best in Show at the prestigious RHS Chelsea Flower. He is a well respected journalist, broadcaster and author of three best selling books on plants and garden design.
Andy works on landscape developments worldwide. Current projects include luxury residential developments in Hong Kong, Portugal and Russia with large country gardens and innovative roof terraces closer to home.
Andy’s design The Wrong Way Round is a beautifully crafted 70cm tall egg covered in a textured bronze patina. Designed for use as an outdoor sculpture, the egg will evolve and change colour – from silver to bronze and finally to green - as the patina is weathered by time. Andy explains: ‘An egg marks a new life, it is impermanent, fleeting and ethereal and is soon destroyed in the process of its very purpose. But this egg turns everything around: being encased in a bronze shell it has an enduring permanence and with this it becomes an ancient artefact, something that will last forever. The rich patina and tactile surface have the warmth and richness of newly cast bronze but as it is caressed by the hands of time and curiosity it will age and improve - the antithesis of a living egg.’
Andy continues: ‘I am delighted to be part of this wonderful initiative again and to have the opportunity to raise vital funds for charity. I wanted to create an egg that had a sculptural quality so the piece could have a life in a garden beyond the exhibition. I think art and sculpture have a central place in contemporary gardens. They can add a real sense of character and drama to a space. The egg, which represents birth and life, was the perfect form for a sculpture that will change over time, as it is exposed to the elements.’

11. Eggsistentialism
by Baxter and Bailey

Founded by Matt Baxter and Dom Bailey, Baxter and Bailey is a small communication design studio with a strong focus on architecture, design, technology and the arts.
The studio offers strategic and creative direction for visual identity, digital, print and motion graphics, packaging, exhibitions and site-specific installations. The team works across a range of creative disciplines for clients both in the UK and internationally and has won numerous awards for both creativity and business.
For Baxter and Bailey, their egg is “bold, brave and bursting with pride.” Its rosette humorously settles once and for all the timeless question of “Which came first?”, and the iconic Lion Mark stamp gives the egg a quintessential Britishness. No highfalutin arty-farty perplexities to puzzle over; what’s special about Eggsistential is its friendly, attractive simplicity.
“The primary objective of our design is to make people smile: a visual pun which uses unexpected scale, combined with an age-old philosophical conundrum, to entertain its audience.”
The egg has been created using weather-resistant materials and, Baxter and Bailey joke, “lets the whole world know exactly where it sits in the pecking order.”

by Stuart Briers

Stuart Briers is a London-based illustrator who creates imagery for a diverse range of advertising and publishing clients throughout the USA and UK. He began making pictures with traditional materials: acrylic and gouche paints, pen and ink, watercolour and pencils. More recently he has transferred this practical experience to a digital environment where various elements are combined to produce a final image.
Here's what Stuart has to say about the egg: "My design came about thinking about the egg as a symbol of creativity and procreation. The egg is one of the requirements for the continuation of evolution and the diversity of species. I have imagined future animals and rendered them onto the surface of the egg while attempting to maintain a sense of simplicity and directness."
He has worked with a number of clients, including Times Newspapers, Wall Street Journal, Design Week, New Scientist, Oxford University Press and Cable and Wireless.
